This is more a person than a thing, but it’s also an ethos and a movement. The author of this instagram handle and corresponding website/events/speeches/interviews is Tricia Hersey and she is a prophet for our time. She reminds us to rest, she demands that black people rest as reparations, as resistance, as theological reclamation of their divinity. I can’t even tell you how much I have learned. Simple, profound, and wayyy deeper than just “Lay Yo Ass Down,” but she does say that because she’s serious about you napping.
